Well, firstly I don’t think this is rude at all because you didn’t imply that it was a negative thing and its not exactly personal.
My nan is from St Helena (a ridiculously tiny island in the middle of nowhere but almost close to Ascension Island) so my mum gets her colouring from her, but my dad is English and I got his blonde hair and blue eyes, that’s all.
Strangely, considering how few people actually come from St Helena, I met a man with the exact same heritage as me, and he was as dark as my mum, there’s a free fun fact thrown in for you ;)
